Lakehouse Entryway

Dramatic update to Lakehouse Entryway from fisherman shack to beachy beautiful

Some of you will remember my story about our lakehouse that we purchased last year.  As we were pulling up  to what looked like a fisherman's shack, I was not very impressed by the state this little cottage was in.
I did love the front door.  I thought she was a hidden jewel that needed a bit of color and polishing.
My first sight inside wasn't convincing me that I loved her either but I remember thinking, "I can do something with this."  Now understand that the below pictures are not the final draft...this project is evolving over a bit of time as we have energy and money.
As you can see there is still much work to be done on this entrance to pretty it up but here is what it looks like at the moment.  We have changed the screen door and given the front door a bit of a makeover with color and a bit of jewelry. She still has a few dings and dents but I think it just gives her more character.
When you step inside at the moment this is what you first see.  I have added rugs and an entry table.  My dear hubby has not been excited about the table because he bumps into it when he is carrying things in but I just smile at him when he complains.  I know he will finally give in about it like I gave in about him taking over my kitchen desk at our regular home.
As I said before this design is evolving.  I am looking for some grass to plop into that pot. I think a bit of green plants are good in every room to give it a bit of life.
I'm using lots of clocks in our lakehouse because I love that song "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay".
I plan to waste lots of time here in this place of serenity.  Although, I don't think it will really be a waste because I find it easy to pray and worship here.
Someone remarked that they would just put any old thing in their lakehouse and that mine was fancy by their standards.  In answer to that, I just wanted to make a place that was beautiful and that felt good when someone comes through the door.  I also do not sleep well with bugs or critters so, I have spent extra time making sure that every single crack and crevice is caulked and filled properly.  It has made a huge difference and it makes the house even less expensive to heat and cool.
Most of the items I have put into our little Lakehouse named Rocky Point Cottage by my husband have come from our local trading post on Facebook, Goodwill, garage sales, Ross, and TJ Maxx.  The cool thing is that God has helped me find the perfect furnishings.  I am amazed how things that are perfect have crossed my path at just the right moment.
I know there are people who believe that God wouldn't care about decorating someone's lakehouse much less take the time but I beg to differ.  He cares deeply about the things that we do.  No this lakehouse isn't something I would deem as necessary to life but it has served a great purpose in allowing my very very busy stressed out husband and myself a place of respite in a world and time of craziness in life.  God cares about all the things his children care about and He is a good daddy...He always has time.  It isn't God who limits us, it is our own thinking.   I think I serve a good God who gives me amazing blessings like this gorgeous sunrise and who always has time for me.
I love the sunsets here at this beautiful place and I am excited to get the repairs and remodel finished so we can finally begin our dock and then we can play in the water!  I have a feeling God also has bigger plans for this place than even I think and that excites me.  I wonder who else will get much needed rest here or who might come into His love here in this beautiful place?

Your lakehouse entry is wonderful, Debra! The color and accessories are just right. In our entry we've had a hard time deciding what furniture to put that we don't bump into. Sometimes you have to play with it a little....we've had to. :)
