Taking Care Of Yourself

Take care of yourself so you can take care of others.

Baby Z had a rough week with an ear infection and all the fun things that go with it this past week.  She is feeling much better now but she is still a bit cranky.  Now her Gigi has been taken down with a virus that has attacked my sinuses and throat.

These things always seem to come when I have lots to do and this one was right on cue as well.  It is really tempting to keep going and just press on working but I have learned that if I will stop and take care of myself then I will get well faster and be back to my usual schedule.

I am a mom.  Even though all my chicks have grown and flown the coop I am still a mom.  I tend to mother everyone around me by taking care of them, helping them, offering advice, teaching, and loving them.  I can't help myself. It is just who I am.  Being sick really gets in the way of that and it is really hard for me to let someone else wait on me because of that.  If I want to get back to taking care of everyone else, then, I need to take care of me.

As hard as it is for me, I am letting my husband help me a bit (he is so sweet to do that when needed).  He may not do things exactly like I would but I have found that sometimes he finds a better way if I will just let him do it his way and I benefit in the end.  So what if he loads the dishes in the dishwasher different!  They still get cleaned and I get a break.  I guess what I am saying with all of this is that the point is sometimes Moms need a break and sometimes we need to let those around us take care of us a bit so that we can get back to taking care of them.  Let them help you.  Let them do it their way.  Sit back relax and remember that things will soon be back on track and their way won't lead to the end of the world.

Not taking care of yourself could, however, lead there.  If you don't take care of yourself then you eventually won't be able to take care of anyone else.  Maybe you don't have a spouse that can help but maybe your mom or mother in law, an older child, or a friend can help.  Don't be afraid to ask for help when it's needed.  Take a day or two, get well, and then back to normal again.

That is what I am doing right now.  I am thankful for a husband who loves me so much and so well.  I am also thankful for Puffs plus with lotion because I am going through a couple boxes a day.  Hopefully, soon, I will be well again and back to taking care of our home, our animals,  Baby Z, and remodeling our little lake house and best of all taking care of my husband.

I hope you'll feel better soon. Take good care of yourself! And there isn't a right way to load the dishwasher, so let your husband do it!
