Autumn In My Home

Autumn in my home 1: Texasdaisey

It is Autumn in my home, although it hasn't seemed much like Autumn outside.  I live in Texas and so Autumn takes a little while longer to come around than in most places.  It is, however, Autumn in my home.  I have added pumpkins, gourds, fall leaves, and lots of my pretty fall decor touches everywhere.

This is the time of year when I love to use fall spicy scented candles to my home.  I especially love when they smell like pumpkin spice.  You won't find witches, ghosts, or goblins in my home because I don't celebrate Halloween at all. (I know it seems to mean to some that I don't give out candy to the sweet little children)  I just refuse to celebrate a holiday that doesn't celebrate my King and celebrates his and my enemy.

I love the seasons though and so I love to celebrate Autumn.  I love the time of year when the sky turns bright blue, and the leaves turn bright fiery colors.  I love the harvest that comes in Autumn of pumpkins, corn, gourds, and more.  I believe that Autumn shows the Glory of my God.  It shows the blessings of harvest and his beautiful creation and so I celebrate Autumn.  I love to use dried things that I have gathered from the fields along with lots of raffia and leaves to help celebrate this beautiful time of the year.

I mix all these dried things in among the shiny stylized pumpkins and the rustic twig acorn tree and some of my pretty estate sale finds.

Added to that are a few fall floral pieces made by my very good friend Sarah and myself.  She helps me out sometimes like friends do.

Above my hutch this year I have a floral piece in an antique lunch bucket along with some vintage handpainted trays and gourds.  I have found that if a vignette looks like it needs something that a bit of greenery or a few dried bits tucked in seems to do the trick.

I love to decorate for the seasons in my home.  I enjoy going to my cabinets for decor items that I have gathered from garage sales, craft sessions, estate sales, and gifts for years.  It is like shopping my own home.  I never know exactly how my vignettes will turn out because I try to change them up a bit each year.

One thing is for certain though.  I always love how it turns out.  Autumn is definitely a favorite season for me and even though we have only just begun to have a bit of cooler weather, it won't be long before the leaves outside will change and I will get my sweaters out, and make hot spiced cider in the evenings.  Autumn will definitely come outside soon and join my Autumn inside.

I love your autumn decorations. I've done a little, but the weather does not make one feel like autumn is here. It is very warm and humid today, almost feels like summer.

Enjoy your week ~ FlowerLady

I know just what you mean it has been really warm here but we did have a tiny little cold snap when temps dropped into the 60's at night.. That really helped it feel more like fall. :)

Debra, God so graciously shares his bounty, and during no season is that as abundantly obvious as fall. Your decor is wonderfully tasteful! Everything is so pretty.
