Mom's Spaghetti

I know I shared a spaghetti recipe last week but I figured we had room for one more.  I have a spaghetti recipe that I learned from my mom and it doesn't take hours to make it taste great.  In fact, it is very quick and easy and this is what I serve my family for regular meals at home.
11/2 - 2 lbs. Hamburger
4 - 6 Cans (little ones) Tomato Sauce (or you can use 1 29 oz. can)
1 28 oz. Can Diced tomatoes
1 8 oz. Can Mushrooms (sliced or pieces)
2 pkgs. Spaghetti Sauce Mix (dry mix in small pouches)
1/2 Small Onion Chopped (can use dried minced onion in a pinch)
Spaghetti Noodles
Oil (optional)

Brown hamburger and drain.  Add tomato sauce, tomatoes, mushrooms, spaghetti sauce mix, and onion.  Mix.  Simmer for about 15 minutes or until heated through.  In another pan heat water with oil and salt.

I have a funny story about this recipe...my son in law loves spaghetti.  My daughter wanted to make spaghetti for his birthday and she wanted it to be special.  She found an old fashioned Italian spaghetti recipe that took her all day to make.  It didn't turn out too good.  He tried so hard not to hurt her feelings but she knew.  Later that same week they came to my house (I didn't know about the spaghetti fiasco).  Guess what I was serving?  You guessed it...spaghetti.  I made my old tried and true recipe and he went back for seconds.  It didn't take my daughter long to ask me how I made my spaghetti.  When I told her, a look of utter disgust crossed her face and she was visually upset.  She explained "I spent an entire day making spaghetti the old fashioned way and it turned out terrible and I could have used your recipe and saved a lot of time and had it taste great".  I do believe she makes her spaghetti my way now (mama always knows best...teehee)

That sounds delicious! Spaghetti is winter food in my book but I do love it. It's the kind of food that just makes you feel good. :)
