I had a wild but really great weekend.  My dear hubby and children threw me a surprise birthday party.  I am soon to be the big 50! I guess they thought that doing it a bit early would help them get the drop on me.  I am usually pretty good at sleuthing out anything covert going on in my family but I have to say, "they really did surprise me." There were moments when I was wondering what in the world was going on with some of my family members, especially when my husband left my visiting daughter and son in law at our house to take me to Wichita Falls for a birthday lunch and shopping (just the two of us).

It was hard to shop knowing my kids were at our house and we were not (except I did get some really great boots!). I felt really guilty the whole time (I couldn't understand why he was so insistent to go). My dear hubby usually only wants to go to a couple of places when we go (he insisted on several).  I was so relieved when he finally headed home.

We pulled into town and were so close to the destination when he made a wrong turn (No!!! I was thinking).  He told me that he had to stop by our church and pick up his new Sunday School book.  I reminded him it was Saturday and no one would be there on Saturday. He assured me there would be. He then asked me to come in with him.  I entered the fellowship hall to find a wonderful surprise.  So many of my loved ones had taken  time to make the trip to my party it made my heart hurt with joy (yes, I did cry). It was wonderful and I am so thankful and blessed to have so many dear wonderful people in my life.  I know most ladies would not be too excited about 50, but I think it is going to be a great year! It has certainly started out well! There is some more good news, I actually know how old I am this year! (but that is another story for another day)
