Benefits and Uses of Lavender

I am so ready for Spring, aren't you too?  That is why I thought I would like to share a little bit with you about lavender.  Lavender is such a beautiful Spring color and the scent is just Heavenly.  Lavender  is an herb that is commonly grown in gardens around the world.  It has been used for many different purposes for over 2000 years.  It is considered to be one of the safest essential oils and it is one of the most popular.  It can be used in beauty treatments, cleaning products, perfume, and many other uses.

Lavender can be grown in the home garden or there are many places you can purchase lavender products.  If you purchase essential oil remember that you need to get pure therapeutic-grade lavender essential oil.  According to the Reference Guide For Essential Oils, "many companies use a distillation process that will produce a greater quantity of oil at a faster rate.  Their oils may smell just as good and cost much less, but they will lack most if not all of the chemical parts necessary to produce the expected results."  I personally like Young Living Essential Oils because their purity and properties have proven to be of the highest quality.

4 drops of essential oil of lavender can be used directly on the face to moisturize and help with the texture of skin.  Use 2 - 3 drops on affected area to soothe burns, Use a few drops on a wet cloth in the dryer to freshen and deodorize your laundry.  Apply a few drops on skin as insect repellent.  It is also great for your pets.  Drop 2 - 3 drops on your hand and spread on your pillow to help with sleep.  It can also be used to calm anxiety.  It can be diffused into the air or applied directly to skin.

One of my very best friends has been using lavender essential oil on her face for several months now and she has had wonderful results.  She is getting many compliments on her skin and questions about what she is using.  It has greatly helped with the texture of her skin.  She no longer has dull looking skin.  I am now in the process of using it myself.  I was very impressed when I saw her skin and decided it was definitely something I needed too.  If you want to know more you can read more about the benefits and uses of lavender here.
