A Cool Place When It Is Hot!

I want to take you to one of my very favorite places to visit when I am in the area and it is hot outside. This place is a water park called Schlitterbahn. I am referring to the original Schlitterbahn in New Braunsfels, Texas. This water park has been voted the best water park for the past 10 years. On this day I decided to take some pictures of random people who looked like they were having a good time. This particular Schlitterbahn is actually 3 parks in one. In one part it is dedicated to a huge children's area. It is filled with child size padded slides, shallow pools, water guns, swinging bridges and many other items that will entertain your little one for hours. In the center part of the park it is almost completely Inner tube chutes, and rides. In this part the water from the Comal River is used for the rides. In one part you are even shot out into the Comal River for a bit. It goes from wild water fun to peaceful lazy floating. In the third part of the park it is dedicated to the more wild and fast rides. It has things like a water coaster, boogie boards, towering chutes and rides, a lazy river, and a large raging wave river. You can pay to only go to part of the park or you can pay to enjoy the entire park. Another nice feature is that you can actually rent a motel room right in the park.

Unlike most other parks, at Schlitterbahn you can bring in ice chests filled with drinks and food. There are lots of places to park your things with chaise lounges or picnic tables. I recommend that you rent one of the lockers to put your valuables like your purse or wallet. They give you a key that you can attach to your swim suit. You can also rent special inner tubes and life jackets for your little ones.

You can go on the fastest wildest of rides or mosey along at your own pace.

There are children's pools sprinkled throughout the parks

This is a fun place for every age

Be sure and bring waterproof sunscreen and apply it often.
The park is so large that they offer a free transport to take you from one end to the other of the park or you can walk. Be sure to bring swim shoes. Between the constant soaking and cement and pool surfaces it can be a bit hard on your tootsies.

If you prefer to not bring your own food you can buy all types of food in the park. They offer anything from roasted turkey legs to funnel cakes and frozen ice cream dots as well as all the usual family park fare.

The entire family will enjoy it here
You will find people of every age, size and race here. I never feel out of place here.
When I arrive I like to spend a bit of time in the inner tube room looking for just the right inner tube. It can be pretty miserable if you get one too large or too small.

I have to leave my trusty inner tube behind though when I visit the wilder part of the park. They have special inner tubes and floaties for that part of the park. The trip just would not be complete if I didn't take a ride on the lazy river and the wild raging wave river. They are both great fun.

After a day of fun and sun and water I always sleep as good as this little guy. I bet you will too.

Until Next time

Awwwww, that little guy looks all tuckerd out. I love the dining tables in the water. I don't swim so that would be a grat way to enjoy the water for me! The park looks like it would be a great time for anyone! Hugs, Loretta

Hi! This blog is fantastic, now I can see what Texas looks like, thanks for sharing, I love the South!!
Disney has Blizzard Beach water park and Tampa has Adventure Island water park but the water park you shared in your photos looks AWESOME!!
Both me and my husband Buddy love swimming and especially waterparks although the stairs hurt my knees, so sore afterwards from all that climbing!
I was a lifeguard and swim teacher for 4 years and so swimming is THE BEST to me although I have never been on a swim team. I am more the lazy river type gal:)

That last photo is such a great way to finish your sequence. I enjoyed my visit by proxy - we never have hot enough weather for parks like these in the UK - so envious!

Wow, it looks like a blast. DH and I just hung up the phone from booking a vacation is Disney in October. It will be nice for us, since it will be chilly here in MA.

I can't wait, a vacation once summer is over. Wahoooooo. My favorite place is floating down the lazy river. Looks like you did some of that today.

Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping by my blog.
