I thought you might enjoy a tour of a house that belongs to Melessa, a good friend of mine. Her home is French country. Her home is very beautiful & the best part is that she did it all on a very limited budget. She shopped thrift stores, garage sales and deeply discounted items for all of it. It just goes to show you that you do not have to be wealthy to decorate a beautiful home. Patience, creativity, and a good upholsterer can really pay good dividends. Please excuse the quality of pictures. I was visiting instead of paying attention to taking pictures, so the lighting & focus is not my best work. I asked Melessa about her beautiful paintings & she found all of them at a buyers market for decorators in Dallas. She bought them many years ago & they stayed rolled up under her bed for about 10 years. She spent anywhere from $10 to $35 each for the paintings. The frames came from garage sales.
This is what you see upon entering her foyer.
This is the powder room just off the foyer.
She has a large collection of Santas ( all of which came from thrift stores & garage sales) spread throughout the house. This is what the family calls the reading room because everyone likes to curl up in front of the fire and read in this room.

The painting over the fireplace was an unbelievable $10. Her furniture all through the house was found at garage sales & she found all her fabrics at a wholesale fabric place in Dallas and she then took them to a wonderful upholsterer to be recovered.
Melessa loves to decorate with fresh flowers and fruit all through the house.

Yes, Even the chandelier was a garage sale find.

After Melessa was asked to be on the Christmas tour of homes she scoured the thrift stores to find enough Christmas ornaments to fill her bathtub.

This is the guest room
A corner of the guest room. The print of the Santa was done by an artist friend who does a new Santa every year for each family member and then gives prints to all the other family. Each family member gets their own original.
Kevin also made the bed as a surprise for Melessa. He kept it a surprise for her. She didn't have a clue that he was doing anything like that.
This is one of her son's rooms. He is a Texas Tech fan so she did a Texas Tech wreath for him.
