Beachy Side Table

My Mom bought me this cute little sidetable for $5!  I know it looks kind of 80's Cute Country but isn't it great?  I can see it made over into Beachy Cottage and I think it will be great!  I love how it looks like a flower when the leaves are up.
Yes, those hearts are old fashioned and I am sure you are wondering how in the world it can become beachy cottage looking, but look at how great this little table is.  The leaves fold down so it can be a tiny side table for a tiny little lakehouse like mine.
And look at the extra storage underneath for magazines or books and even a shelf too.  Extra storage and dual purpose is very important in a tiny little lakehouse cottage like Rocky Point.  OK, I will get on with it...
Step one was to paint that little table a beachy cottage color by Behr called Watery.  I left it with the brush marks showing a bit of the color underneath. I am very pleased with how it is turning out so far.  There is more to come...
My dear hubby added some thin poplar for me to cover the hearts on the outside of the table.  I decided to leave the inside uncovered because someone handcrafted this cute little table in the 80's and someday someone may want to take it back to its roots.  Who knew mid century modern would be popular again?
Next came a coat of paint in a matching color and then a bit of glue and a starfish and some seashells. To decorate it and add a bit of beachy flare.
I love how it turned out!  I think it is perfect for my little beachy styled lakehouse.  Don't you?

What a great find at a great price! I love the hearts and was aghast when I saw the wood covering them, but seeing what you did and seeing the hearts on the inside was a clever way to change things up a bit. Love and the beach theme go together.

It turned out really lovely.

Enjoy and have a great weekend ~ FlowerLady

Nothing against hearts but I am glad you covered them up. It makes this piece look more appealing. Beautiful color choice!
