It is Autumn in my home, although it hasn't seemed much like Autumn outside. I live in Texas and so Autumn takes a little while longer to come around than in most places. It is, however, Autumn in my home. I have added pumpkins, gourds, fall leaves, and lots of my pretty fall decor touches everywhere.
This is the time of year when I love to use fall spicy scented candles to my home. I especially love when they smell like pumpkin spice. You won't find witches, ghosts, or goblins in my home because I don't celebrate Halloween at all. (I know it seems mean to some that I don't give out candy to the sweet little children) I just refuse to celebrate a holiday that doesn't celebrate my King and celebrates his and my enemy.
I love the seasons though and so I love to celebrate Autumn. I love the time of year when the sky turns bright blue, and the leaves turn bright fiery colors. I love the harvest that comes in Autumn of pumpkins, corn, gourds, and more. I believe that Autumn shows the Glory of my God. It shows the blessings of harvest and his beautiful creation and so I celebrate Autumn. I love to use dried things that I have gathered from the fields along with lots of raffia and leaves to help celebrate this beautiful time of the year.
I mix all these dried things in among the shiny stylized pumpkins and the rustic twig acorn tree and some of my pretty estate sale finds.
Added to that are a few fall floral pieces made by my very good friend Sarah and myself. She helps me out sometimes like friends do.
Above my hutch this year I have a floral piece in an antique lunch bucket along with some vintage handpainted trays and gourds. I have found that if a vignette looks like it needs something that a bit of greenery or a bit of dried bits tucked in seems to do the trick.
One thing is for certain though. I always love how it turns out. Autumn is definitely a favorite season for me and even though we have only just begun to have a bit of cooler weather, it won't be long before the leaves outside will change and I will get my sweaters out, and make hot spiced cider in the evenings. Autumn will definitely come outside soon and join my Autumn inside.
