Enjoy The Moment

Some days just don't go the way we planned it.  Some days don't even start out or end the way we planned it.  When that happens we have a couple of choices...

Learn to enjoy the moment

we can get upset, frustrated and in that general Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr frame of mind which will then lead to even more frustrations and a bad time or...

We can choose to enjoy the moment.  I know you are probably thinking how in the world can someone enjoy it when they are late to work because their car wouldn't start and they already have a huge bill at the mechanic?  How can they enjoy it when the bills and needs always seem to surmount the paycheck? How can someone enjoy the delays and costs that keep happening on a project they are trying to complete?  How can someone enjoy that the beautiful garden they spent so much time and money on is dying because of drought?  How can they enjoy watching a parent aging, and becoming weaker as their health fails?  How can they enjoy it  when...

No, those parts aren't enjoyable at all.  We all have our version of those parts but we also can have our version of the good parts that come in between.  The parts where we can enjoy that really great cup of coffee as the sun makes it's appearance.  The moment when our favorite song comes on the radio. The moment when everyone in the house is sleeping and we can spend some time talking to the Lord.  The moment when we step outside to take out the trash and up above is a glorious display of stars that takes our breath away.  The moment when our baby lays her head on our chest and falls asleep in our arms.  The moment when we get to sit and enjoy spending time with an aging parent. The moment when our spouse or someone we love gives us a big hug.  The moment when...

Live in those moments!  Let those moments be what define your life not the yucky ones.  We get to choose which moments are the exclamation points and which are just a short little period.  We get to decide how much focus we put on those moments.  Choose to live in the moment of grace rather than the moment of evil.  Choose to live in the moment of love rather than anger or hatred. Choose the good moments rather than the yucky moments.  Let those ugly yucky moments pass on by (because they will) and enjoy those others to the full.  Go ahead, give those good moments a big ole exclamation mark...maybe even 3 or 4.  Live in the moment!!!
