It is Time Y'all

Did you know that it is time? Time to gather up all the pretty summer decorations. All the birdhouses, and summer flowers, the roses, the ivy, and the white pretties. Time to put away the seashells, and sea glass and all the candles that smell like fresh linens or melons or pineapple. Time to put away all the pink, and blue and fresh greens and pristine whites. I have them all gathered up ready to be put away until another day.
Soon baseball will be over and no more soccer, no more swimming or shorts with summer hats or flip flops. No more garden weeding or harvesting to be done. No more fresh mown grass or crickets singing, or frogs croaking at night. No more fireflies glowing under the bright summer stars or lazy days by the water. I say a sad/happy goodbye to all these things soon because it is time y'all . . .

It is time for football, and soon cool crisp nights. It is time for jackets, and the leaves turning. It is time for apple cider and apple butter. Time for home cooked meals like soup, and roast, and casseroles. Time to bring out the olive greens, golds, browns, and even orange. Time for pumpkins, and gourds, and dried naturals. Time to burn candles that smell like pumpkin spice, vanilla, or home baked goods. Time to say hello to the crows that come calling, and the sounds of geese and ducks flying overhead. Time for homecoming, and remembering good times. Time for walks and hikes in the fresh crisp air. Time to plant bulbs, and trees and all the good things that will bring a welcome smile in Springtime. It is the time I like to get out my leopard prints and light sweaters and pants. Time for warmer throws on the couch. It is all ready to come out because it is time y'all . . .

It is time for darker colors, time for wood to be stacked for crackling fires on cool evenings. Time to move the chickens and ducks to a warmer place. Time for clear cool breezes, and leaves blowing around. Time for the evenings to come sooner and morning a bit later. Time for scarecrows, and hay bales, and corn shocks. Autumn festivals, and fairs, and the like. It is time for all those things.

It is time y'all. It is time for fall!
Until Next Time

Hi Debbie,
It's down right depressing, isn't it? I hate putting my Summer stuff away! I suppose if we lived in a warmer climate say like California or Florida, I wouldn't mind so much. But Fall here is the forerunner to a long cold Winter with lots of ice and snow. I prefer to keep warm myself! I like to light my candles all year round but I am in the midst of painting some pumpkins white! I also keep my birdhouses out year round. There are so many people liking Fall but not me...I am a Spring and summer girl and I guess I always will be. Thanks for your post and have a nice evening.

Blessings,
Sandi

It's funny that I always feel a little sadness to see summer go, and then I start getting excited about the cooler mornings and the first red leaves on the trees. Beautifully written post. Thank you.

I always hate saying goodbye to summer, but you can't argue with the seasons! And autumn is beautiful. It used to be my favorite season until I had my own garden. Then summer became my favorite.

I must say I'm enjoying the cooler air and the leaves starting to change color!
