Despite my really good intentions to be back from my break after only a couple of weeks; it is now 5 weeks later. As most of you know I was forced to take a break due to some medical problems and an unplanned surgery (I share more about it on my BeautyCottage blog ). Although I am not back to my old self completely, I am much much better now. Thank you to all you who have lifted me in prayer and to those of you who left your kind comments.
Before the interruption, I had shared a little preview of the post I intended to have up before Valentine's Day. I had hoped to share my love of roses, and lace and pink. Despite those intentions, it just didn't happen when I planned. I decided to share that planned post with you anyway even if it is a bit late.
Every year when it gets close to Valentine's Day, I love to get out all my pink things and romance everything up with old fashioned lace and doilies.
I know doilies are not really in style anymore but sometimes, I just do not let that stop me. Especially when it is something I really still enjoy so much.
If you have read some of my past blog posts you probably know that I recently got some new leather furniture that is robin's egg blue. I love it and it has been quite different for me to adapt to but the touches of pink all through my room has been really pretty for this season.
Of course I still use much of my textured white items too.
I really enjoy taking my things and decorating my spaces in completely different ways. It is such a challenge sometimes but one that I thoroughly enjoy.
I especially enjoy it when I can do it with little or no money.
It happened that way this time. Everything I used were things I already had. I just mixed things up and displayed them in fresh ways.
It makes me feel like I have all new things. In the current economy it is really beneficial for me to find ways to use what we already have rather than having to buy all new.
Some of my things get put away for later use and that makes them seem new again when I use them next time in a fresh way. Some are taken to other rooms. I have found that keeping my options open helps me to be very creative with my things.
There are even some of my things that will be used in different seasons. I am not above using Christmas decorations in certain instances. One of my rooms has some really beautiful tassels that began life as Christmas ornaments. I saw their potential for use in completely different ways.
If you are looking for ways to make your home seem fresh and new on a limited budget then remember to keep your options open. Look at everything you own as a potential item to be used in a new and different way. You might be pleasantly surprised how things come out. Remember too that even if you do not accomplish your first intentions that things do not always have to be completely perfect along the way to end up really great.
Until Next Time
