Would You Like To See?

Wow! Have your days been busy like mine have? I have had 4 parties and 1 graduation this week & 2 of those parties were at my house. We fed about 90 people this week with appetizers, punch, and hot apple cider. I am on the Christmas tour of homes this Thursday & expect around 50 people for that. I still need to get the last of my shopping done & more presents wrapped not to mention all the extra programs and activities at church. It is starting to feel a little daunting but I have decided to take it easy tomorrow & recharge my batteries a bit. I have learned to never let myself get so tired that I quit enjoying the whirl of Christmas. I thought I would give you a mini tour of a couple of my rooms, the dining room and kitchen. Would you like to see?

I just love the sparkle of ornaments in the light, so I like to hang some in my windows with lights so they sparkle both day and night.
Mercury glass is a favorite of mine. You can use it at Christmas and all year long.
I am always looking for cool ways to display some of my vintage ornaments.
The cherries come down at Christmas and are replaced with gingerbread men
I have gingerbread men & Coca Cola all over my kitchen.
They line every nook and cranny . . .
In fact it looks like an explosion of gingerbread & Coke. They are everywhere.

More sparkly mercury glass. Aren't they pretty?
This started with only two little gingerbread men & then my friends started to give me more and now look what happened. They are like rabbits, before long you have more than you know what to do with. I had to start hanging them on the garland in the window because the tree was full.
Some of my sparkly fruit.
This is my newly finished dining room. This used to be a large single car garage. We have 2 more large double car garages so we decided to sacrifice this one to have a large room to entertain in. I did almost all the work in here which includes: staining the floor, painting, raised stenciling on cabinets, trim moulding, hardware, texture on ceiling & walls, sewing curtains & the most fun part which was decorating. I got help with the electrical, & some of the heavier woodworking.
Are you like me? I have to find places for all the Christmas decorations. After 26 years of marriage it just starts to add up. I have started to pass some things down to my girls since they are both married now. I have so much that I am sure I will have plenty to pass down to my son someday too.
When the temperatures get down to 40, I have to bring all the plants inside.
I shopped & gathered flowers for about a year to make the two large arrangements in this room. I have a really good friend that arranged them for me. I got to wrap the stems & trim them for her. We made a whole day of it. It was fun. I love to get together with friends to work on projects. It is her turn to get a project done after Christmas.
I used an old dresser for my buffet. I removed the mirrors, rubbed it down with a little Howard's to renew the finish & voila. Now I just need to find some new hardware & it will be perfect.
I love these because they are so cute & sparkly.
I have so many ornaments that won't fit on my other trees so now I have a new garland to hang the overflow in the dining room. I like to add the snow flakes.
The plug was supposed to be moved in the renovation but who can argue with electricians. At that point, I was tired & just compromised. Oh well.
Here is some more of my favorite sparkly fruit.
The box was a project with my friend too. She built the box & did the base coats & I painted the design on them. We make a pretty good team because she likes to base coat & I like to paint the details.
A close up of my beautiful arrangement. This one will stay out all year.

I hope you enjoyed my little tour. I will get more posted this week, so stay tuned for more.

Have a Merry Christmas & remember to enjoy it too.

I enjoyed seeing your Chistmas decorations and gingerbread men. What a collection!
I haven't decorated much the last 6 or 7 years. I must say that it has been a relief. Most likely I will get back into it one of these days, but not this year.
Blessings,
Vicki
